Martha Loretta Mae (Moses) Parker

1932 ∼ 2023

Martha Lorretta Mae (Moses) Parker (April 9, 1932 - April 13, 2023) has gone on to be with her Lord and Savior.

Martha loved to sing, especially with her husband Wiley at her side. She played a variety of musical instruments, but her specialty was the accordion, and would often sing and play at the same time during music worship at church.

Born in Springfield, Missouri, Martha met her future husband at bible college. They soon married, and Martha spent some time working in the labor and delivery departments at local hospitals in the Springfield area. They quickly made their way south, where they resided in Beaumont, Texas. Although his calling did take them to various locations, Sabine Tabernacle was their main ministry, where they assisted Brother Herbert Hilton. Meanwhile, having gotten pretty good at the practice from raising four children, Martha loved to cook, wherein a long-standing Parker family tradition of Dinner After Church at Grandma’s House was quickly established. Martha and her husband both loved Beaumont, their church, their family, and their friends. Martha was an incredibly joyful person, always with a smile on her face and a laugh in her eyes. She had a habit of brightening the room, no matter the circumstance or situation. She sometimes had trouble finishing singing along with her husband at church, as she had a habit of breaking out into a joyous laughter that infected the entire room. She loved Jesus with all of her heart, and everyone that she encountered was the better for it. She was a tremendous comfort to her husband during his life and his ministry. She leaves behind a legacy of help and support, with family members that have dedicated their lives to assisting those around them, especially in the healthcare field.

She is preceded into death by her husband of 53 years, Wiley Thomas Parker; her siblings, Ruth Uzzell, Joe Moses, and Naomi Lyle; her son, Samuel Parker; her daughter Cheryl Parker Workman; her grandson, Christopher Carker; her granddaughter Cassandra Workman; and her great-grandson Joshua Parker, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter Priscilla Parker, son-in-law and daughter Richard and Deborah Carker, daughter-in-law Deborah Parker Bons, son-in-law Leroy Workman, grandchildren Heather Workman, Jonathan Workman, Daniel Workman, Philip Workman, Andrew Workman, Jeremy Parker, Jason Shuck, Christina Carker, Kevin Carker, David Parker, Michael Parker, Matthew Parker, Joshua Parker, Nathanael Parker, and Benjamin Parker; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews — all of whom she loved dearly.

A visitation for Martha's many friends and loved ones will be held at Claybar Kelly-Watkins Funeral Home at 1155 N 11th St in Beaumont, Texas on Monday, April 17th from 5PM-7PM. Martha's funeral service will be held at Sabine Tabernacle at 1065 Hazel St in Beaumont, Texas on Tuesday, April 18th at 2PM, with a service to follow at Magnolia Cemetery.

Love (present-tense) my beautiful Aunt Martha, though I didn't get to see her much since my early-adult years. So happy she is now where she has always longed to be, surrounded by limitless joy, loved ones, and her best friend Jesus! So sorry for those who are still here, who have been close to her and have to wait awhile longer to be with her again. Trusting God to carry you, and that the memory of her laughter and sweetness will always lift you up.

MARTHA PARKER When I was 20 years old our church took a new pastor. Wiley and Martha Parker were young and so anointed. His preaching and their singing and playing, (he on guitar and she on accordion), were a great blessing to our church. I was so impressed with them that when Martha introduced me to her visiting sister Naomi, I immediately began thinking of marriage. After a few months of courtship Wiley officiated our wedding and Martha sang for us. Naomi and I had been married for 65 years when she was beckoned to heaven in August of 2022.

I am so sorry for your loss. Aunt Martha was a treasure to all of us. She radiated with joy and the love of Christ within her was so evident by her life. Always a kind word, gentle smile and a laugh that was infectious to all in the room with her. She played the accordion and sang so beautifully What a joy and blessing to have her as my Aunt. I will forever remember and cherish her. She made a tremendous impression on my life and I am forever grateful. Our love and prayers are with you all
