Mary Helen Gilbert, 90, of Lumberton, passed away August 29, 2013 at her home. She was born May 14, 1923 in Pitken, LA to William and Lou Ella Ashmore.

Surviving Helen are her children David Gilbert and his wife, Susan, of Lumberton and Delores Gilbert and her significant other, Evelyn Strickland, of Beaumont. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Leaha Gilbert, Hayden Gilbert and Nathan Gilbert. Mary Helen was preceded in death by her husband, William Jackson Gilbert and 6 brothers and sisters.

A celebration of Helen’s life will be held Tuesday Sept. 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. There will be a gathering of family and friends Monday, Sept. 2 from 5- 7 p.m. at the funeral home. See ClaybarFuneralHome.com for updated information.
