Graveside services for Mary Ellen Posey, 87, of Lumberton will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be on Wednesday from 10-11:30 a.m. at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Posey was born on March 13, 1928 in Tennessee to Perry and Rose Ellen Quinton and passed away Nov. 19, 2015 at her residence in Lumberton. Upon graduation from high school, she married Ray Posey, Sr. and moved to Beaumont where they celebrated 56 years of marriage. A member of First Baptist Church of Beaumont, she was a former math teacher with Nederland ISD and retired as a Counselor/Diagnostician from Port Arthur ISD.
She is survived by her son, Ray Posey Jr. and wife, Judy, of Lumberton; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Posey of Nederland; 3 grandchildren, Jake Posey and wife, Merrick of Georgetown, Shannon Mitchell and husband, Paul, of Burlison, and Amanda Posey of Nederland; and 7 great-grandchildren, Cole, Molly, Whit, and Madeline Posey, and Jonah, Caleb and Noah Mitchell.
Mrs. Posey was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Posey, Sr., her parents, Perry and Rose Ellen Quinton; sons, Gary and Rodney Posey; 3 sisters and 1 brother.
