Maxine Gerland Williams

Maxine Gerland Williams, our beloved mother and wife died Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Orange.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Grace Lutheran Church in Orange. Reverend Timothy Dinger will officiate.

Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, TX.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, the 27th at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Maxine was born September 13, 1923, in Diboll, TX, the daughter of Ott Mark and Johnnie Mae Outlaw Byrd.

Maxine was once the co-owner of Gerland's Big Star in Orange and she was a long time employee of Levingston Shipyard, having worked in various offices throughout the company.

She was an avid quilter and her quilts are cherished by friends and family. Maxine loved to play golf and made memories withher many friends.

Maxine was preceded in death by her first husband Milton K. Gerland, and her parents, Ott and Johnnie Byrd.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, C. H. Williams, sons, Ronny Kinard and wife Wei Li of Palacios, son Kelly Gerland and wife JoNell of Katy, TX; daughter, Melissa Gerland of Circleville, OH; stepson, Chuck Williams and wife Tammy of Spring, stepdaughter, Dennise White of Lafayette, LA; grandchildren, LuDi Kinard, Natalie Howell and husband Landon, Tara Keefner and husband Kyle, Kevin Williams, and Kyle Williams. She is also survived by four great grandchildren, Ella Howell, Brock Keefner, Audrey Keefner and Kaitlyn Keefner.

Serving as pallbearers will be Walter Maples, Sam Kittrell, Charlie Zoch, Sam Watters, Tom Haas and George Pohn.

For those desiring to make a memorial donation in lieu of flowers, these may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 2300 Eddleman Rd., Orange, TX, 77630.
