Melvyn "Mel" Leroy Jackson

Melvyn Leroy Jackson, 84, of Beaumont, passed away on July 6, 2020.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 11, 2020, at Magnolia Cemetery, Woodville, Texas, located at the intersection of N Nellius St. And N Pine St. Officiating will be Mr. Andrew Joiner.

Born in Houston, Texas, on December 9,1935, he was the son of George Irvine Jackson and Ruth Beatrice (Burgdorff) Jackson Pederson. Mel was a loving husband and father. He was a veteran and proudly served his country in the United States Army. Mel worked for many years as a manager in the restaurant industry. Mel attended Calvary Baptist Church in Beaumont. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and he loved to fish. Mel was a wonderful man who will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Irvine Jackson and Ruth Beatrice (Burgdorff) Jackson Pederson; son, Todd Leroy Jackson; and brother, Donald Jackson.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 61 years Sharlotte Jackson; son, James Jeffrey Jackson of Beaumont, and his daughter, Ruth Elaine Whitley and her husband Ed of North Carolina; as well as eight grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Whenever he would fall or scrape his tender skin... he would let me wrap it up with adhesive tape I used on my horses. He always had a different horse pattered bandage on him. And I think he liked it! He was such a sweet man and will never be forgotten. He touched many lives in many ways. He will definitely me missed!
