Roy was a devoted Christian and long-time member of Wesley United Methodist Church, formerly North End United Methodist Church, for over 60 years where he served the church in various capacities. His years at the church included becoming one of the founders of both the Society of St. Stephen’s and the annual church garage sale. Roy helped originate Some Other Place and served on many committees of the church through the years. He was a lay leader to the Texas Annual Conference for over 20 years.

Roy is preceded in death by his wife, Lynda Wainwright Follmer; daughter, Samantha Lynn Follmer; brothers, Ellis, Dick, and Jack Follmer; sister, Ruth Follmer; and parents, Francis and Henry Follmer.

I worked with Roy when he was an adjuster for Continental Insurance Companies in the 60s. He also worked with the Boy Scouts. Roy had a special heart for all who knew him and he graciously served as a pallbearer for my father. I know he has earned special rewards in Heaven.

Stacy we are so sorry to hear of the death of your wonderful father! Michael Roy was an amazing Boss, friend and a mentor to many. May he rest in peace. I was Micheal Roy's secretary for many years and he was such a good man. I continued to work for him for nearly 30 years at the Texas Department of Transportation. What fond memories I have of this amazing man!
