Michael Nations

Mr. Michael Nations passed away at M D Anderson, May 12, 2011, with his family by his side. Michael was born December 18, 1954 in East St. Louis, Illinois and was as a longtime resident of China, Texas and a 30 year employee of North Star Steel. He also spent time as a Reserve Sheriff?s Officer in Galveston County. Michael loved being outside working in his garden, fishing and little league baseball. Besides his family the other love in his life was the Houston Astros.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Chapel. A time for visitation is scheduled for Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Surviving Michael are his wife, Rene? Nations; his daughter, Misti Robinson and her husband, Bill, of Houston; his step-daughter, Theresa Benoit and her husband, Chuck, of China; step-sons, Anthony Salvato of Beaumont and Sargeant Daniel Salvato and his wife, Janice, of Colorado Springs, Co.; and grandchildren, Aaron Salvato, Holly Salvato, William Benoit, Luke Robinson, Emma Benoit, Abigail Robinson, Emily Robinson and Kyle Salvato. Also surviving Michael are his mother, Willetta Nations; sister, Terrie Brown and her husband, Rich, of Saginaw, Michigan; brothers, James Nations and his wife, Fran, of Port Neches and Dennis Nations and his wife, Shellie, of Winnie; great-nephew, Jake Richardson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, James L. Nations.

Memorial contributions may be sent to MD Anderson Blood Donor Center, 2555 Holly Hall Rd., Houston, TX 77054 or to the Leukemia Clinic at the hospital.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Mike was a good friend and great fun to be around. We had lots of old funny stories from North Star Steel.Our best fishing memory was when we caught 224 sand trout at "Sea Wolf Park"Galveston,Tx.
