Michael Lee Mickey McNamara

Michael Lee "Mickey" McNamara, 76, of Orange, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2010.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2010, at the 9th and Elm Church of Christ in Orange, with Barry Jones, minister, and Bruce Lewis, officiating.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Mickey was born in Orange on August 9, 1933, the son of Ruth and Lee McNamara.

He attended Bancroft, Anderson and Curtis Schools and graduated from Stark High School in 1951. He then went on to attend Lamar University, graduating in 1955, with a degree in Business Management.

He worked for Sears for six years and New York Life for two years. In 1963, he became an insurance broker and was the owner of McNamara Insurance Agency.

Mickey was a member of the 9th and Elm Church of Christ where he was currently serving as Elder.

Active in his community, he was a member of the Orange Rotary Club and was involved in the creation and building of the Lutcher Stark High School monument located on the Green Ave. campus.

Preceded in death by his parents, Mickey is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sarah McNamara of Orange; daughters and son-in-law, Charla McNamara of Orange, Susan and Elvert DelaRosa of Texas City; granddaughter, Shea McNamara of Orange; and sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Bobby Lanning of Beaumont.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chester James, Ralph Henderson, Art Brossette, Mitch Bertrand, James Berry, Dennis Doggett, Allen Beauchamp and Elvert DelaRosa.
