Maxie Mier, 71, of Orange, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, in his home.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Mr. Kelley Burch of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness. Burial will follow at Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly, Louisiana.
Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
Maxie was born on August 8, 1937, in Morse, LA. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved his grandkids dearly.
He was the husband of JoAnn Mier and preceded in death by his granddaughter, Bonnie Christine Nicole Hess, his three brothers, Howard, Jake, and DuVall Mier, and sister, Gladys Benoit.
He is survived by his daughters, Rhonda Dupuy and her husband Mike of Orange, Margaret Dixon and her husband Thomas of Orange, Pricilla Hess and her husband Scott of Huntsville, AR; grandchildren, Gabriel, Michelle, Derek; sisters, Shirly Guillory, Anna Mae Broussard, Jean Burton; and brother, Junior Mier.
Serving as pallbearers will be Russell, Micky, Andy, Leo and Mark Benoit, and Ernie Guillory and Loui Guillory.
