Mildred Ruth Jones

Mildred Ruth Jones, 81, of Austin, Texas passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at Seaton Center in Austin.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange with Reverend Danny Cryer officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

Visitation will begin at noon Saturday, at the funeral home.

Mildred was born on August 10, 1928, in Bullard, Texas. She was the daughter of Thomas and Bertha Seals Hall. She was a foster grandparent for many years at North Early Learning Center in Orange. She was well known for her cooking and especially her chicken fried steak. Mildred was known for her annual Christmas tradition of giving to all her unmarried family members a "sack" full of treats and a special gift.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughters, Geneva White and Lavon "Punkie" Jones.

Mildred is survived by her sons, Jimmy Earl Jones and his wife, Barbara and Rodney Jones and his wife, Linda all of Austin; grandchildren, Jennifer Oldag, LaWanda Sorrels, Lisa Welch, Chad White and Heather Swan; and great-grandchildren, Patti Sorrels, Megan White, Kevin Sorrels, Jarod Abel Oldag, Bailey Swan, Slade Welch and Sophie White.

She is also survived by her sisters, Marie Webb of Houston and Bill Bryant.
