Misty Layne Smitherman Morgan

Misty Layne Smitherman Morgan, 32, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at her home in Scottsdale, Arizona, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

A memorial Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, March 13, 2008, at 3 p.m. at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, located at 4300 Meeks Drive, Orange, TX, with Father Thomas Phelan officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be held in the San Damiano Center immediately following the service.

Misty was born December 30, 1975, in Orange to Peggy Ann Fall and Bobby W. Smitherman.

She graduated from Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School in 1994, received her Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the University of Texas and her Masters Degree in Community Counseling from the University of Phoenix.

She lived in Panachel, Guatemala, for two years teaching underprivileged children English as a second language. Before her illness, Misty was employed with the Arizona State Child Protective Services in Phoenix.

Misty is survived by her spouse, Ryan Warren, her mother, Peggy A. Fall, her father, Bobby W. Smitherman and his wife JoAlice, her brother, Tyson Plagens, her sisters, Shelly Miller of Suwanee, GA, Stephanie Shikle of Houston, TX, her grandparents, Theresa C. Fall, of Orange, and Gene and Judi Hidalgo, of Bridge City, her uncle, Lanston Fall and wife Cristi, of Orange and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be sent in Misty's name to Southeast Texas Hospice, 912 W. Cherry, Orange, TX, 77630.
