Morris Desmond Ramsey, Jr.

Morris Desmond Ramsey, Jr., 72, of Bridge City, died Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at Baptist Orange Hospital.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2010, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange with Reverend Kevin Kissel of Faith United Methodist Church and Reverend Mary Beth McDuff, officiating.

Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.

Born in Bossier, Louisiana on July 31, 1937, he was the son of Morris D. Ramsey, Sr. and Gussie Lee Ramsey. Morris moved to Orange in 1942 and attended Orange public schools where he graduated in 1956 from Lutcher Stark High School. He worked at his dad's sporting good store and then later he was employed with DuPont in Orange for 36 years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #1345 in Bridge City.

Preceded in death by his parents; and son, Mark Patterson.

Morris is survived by his high school sweetheart of 53 years, Betty Ramsey; two sons, Desi and Doug Ramsey; and grandson, Marcus Ramsey.

Serving as Pallbearers will be the Men's Bible Class from Faith United Methodist Church, Bill Garrett, Finley Vaughn, Vernon Pennington and also Morris Sanders, Denis Dyer, and grandson, Marcus Ramsey.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Faith United Methodist Women Kitchen Fund, 2497 Martin Luther King Jr Dr, Orange 77630 or a charity of your choice.

Betty, Desmond,Doug, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Ramsey. I have such sweet memories of all of us at Park Avenue. Ohhh Ms. Ramsey I am sooo sorry for the recent death of Mr. Ramsey you know how much I love y'all! He always made me laugh&always said wonderful things to me even though he would tell my Nanny I was always bad!
