Myrtle Ann Etheridge

Myrtle Ann Etheridge, 80, of Bridge City, died Monday, September 17, 2007, after fighting a long battle with a degenerative brain disease, Progressive Supernuclear Palsy.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2007, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Bridge City. Reverend John Bickham, associate pastor of First Baptist Church in Orange, will officiate the ceremony, followed by a burial service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Bridge City.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6:00 ? 9:00 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.

Myrtle was born on April 24, 1927, in Francitas, Texas. She married Jack Etheridge, of Beaumont, on December 21, 1946. She was a long time member of North Orange Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Bridge City.

She was a very artistic person, and she channeled her creativity into paintings, quilting, knitting, sewing, gardening, cooking, and many more hobbies. Above all these she loved to paint. Her art is a treasure to her family and will be passed down through generations.

She moved to Jasper in 1984, and there she was an active member of First Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school and worked in the church library. She loved to read and passed this love along to her children and grandchildren. But above all else, she loved the Lord and at age 12, gave her heart and life to Him.

Myrtle is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack R. Etheridge; son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Debbie Etheridge of Bridge City; daughter and son-in-law, Lou Ann and Wayne Hairgrove, of Gordon; grandchildren, Ben Hairgrove, Katie and Jeff Peterson, Erik Etheridge, Kelly Etheridge, Lindsey and B.J. Burch; great grandchildren, Logan and Anna Peterson; as well as her caregiver and sister-in-law, Shirley Schaffer; sister, Wanda Bremmer and brother, Tommy Choate.

The family would like to thank the staff of Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, for their patience and gentleness through this process. They would also like to thank the nurses and attendants who have cared for her over the last several months.
