Nancy DeLaney Clark

Nancy Virginia DeLaney Clark, 81, of Mauriceville, died Friday, July 31, 2009, at Baptist Hospital in Orange.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2009, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange, with the Reverend W.C. Hall and Reverend Marv Howland, officiating.

Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Born in Upshur County on June 15, 1928, she was the daughter of Edward Taylor and Hazel Mae Carpenter Harris.

Nancy attended high school in Gilmer and was a graduate of Lutcher Stark High School in Orange. She was a beautician and cosmetologist and was the owner of the Beauty Box.

Nancy was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mauriceville, the Ladies Auxillary of V.F.W. Post 2775 and American Legion Post 49.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Douglas DeLaney and Kelton Clark; daughter, Dawn Aytes and sister, Patsy Wood.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Shannon Deason of Vidor; son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Michelle DeLaney of Mauriceville; sister, Dr. Betty Gilbert of Winnsboro; and brother, James Edward Harris of Orange.

Also surviving are her grandchildren, Austin Aytes, Casey Atyes, Brittany Deason, Dyllon Deason, Zachary Thibodeaux; and great-grandchildren, Kaiden Martin, Mason Martin, Briley Martin, and Meloday Aytes.

Serving as pallbearers will be Austin Aytes, Jimmy DeLaney, Kent DeLaney, James Leger, William Leger and Tommy Reynolds.

Honorary pallbearers will be Casey Aytes, Dyllon Deason, Cliff Reeves, Teddy Wissing, Andy Campbell and Kerry Deason.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the doctors and staff of the Cancer Center of Southeast Texas, the staff of Baptist Hospital – Orange ICU and Dr. Jimmy Jones for the care Nancy received.

I remember all the times I stayed with Nancy and Douglas when I was very young. They had the record of Hank Williams singing Love Sick Blues. I played that record until it broke. I will miss them both.##imported-begin##Elaine Hubbard Stone##imported-end##
