Nathan W. "Mac" McCown

Nathan W. "Mac" McCown, 82, of Lumberton passed away Sunday November 8, 2009 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend Sidney Woods of First Assembly of God in Silsbee. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. McCown was born April 13, 1927 in China, TX to Enes S. and Nannie Belle Murff McCown. He was a graduate of China High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from Texas Gulf Sulphur Co. after 35 years and was a member of First Assembly of God in Silsbee. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary McCown; great granddaughter, Tabitha Adams and five of his brothers.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 61 years, Joyce McCown of Lumberton; brother, Wilbur McCown and wife Elodie of Silsbee; son, Richard McCown and wife Vickie of Beaumont; daughter, Deborah Allen and husband Randy of Arlington; son, Greg McCown and wife Debbie of Cypress and daughter, Cherry Page and husband Tommy of Boling. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Mac will be remembered by all who knew him as a kind, loving, and gentle man who loved God.
