Nelson Dixon

Nelson Dixon, 75, of West Orange, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at Harbor Hospital in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2011, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange, with the Reverend Lynn Ashcraft officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, at the funeral home.

Born in Hammond, Louisiana on January 23, 1935, he was the son of Clarence Charles and Kitty Lou Hughes Dixon.

Mr. Dixon moved to Orange in 1946 and in 1957, was married to Janice Claire Saxon. They were married for 50 years until her death on April 14, 2007.

Mr. Dixon retired from the Firestone Plant in Orange where he was a maintenance mechanic. He was the owner and operator of Dixon's Tree Service since 1971, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Orange and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Dixon, Tommy Dixon and John Dixon.

Mr. Dixon is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Kerry Olson of Orange, Melanie and Brett Tekker of Waxhaw, North Carolina; grandsons, Cameron and Grant Tekker; brother and sister-in-law, Oscar and Bea Dixon of Orange; his sister, Allie "Sis" Rush, also of Orange; and sisters-in-law, Jeanne Dixon of Bridge City and Agnes Dixon of Orange.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kerry Olson, Brett Tekker, Mike Dixon, Jimmy Dixon, Thomas Dixon, J.C. Rush, Cameron Tekker and Grant Tekker.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart and Lung Association, P.O. Box 15186, Austin, TX 78761, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Melanie and Stephanie...I loved your daddy very much. He was so nice to all us Dixon kids when we were little.
