Noble Weaver Wise, Sr.

Noble Weaver Wise, Sr., 81, of Orange, Texas died Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Christus St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Kevin Kissel of Faith United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn in West Orange.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home in Orange.

Born in Center, Texas on February 1, 1929, Noble was the son of Elzie V. Wise and Doshie Hill Wise. He was a member of Insulators Local No. 112 for over 50 years, and was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner at the Madison Masonic Lodge No. 126 for over 40 years. Noble retired in 1992 from DuPont Construction after 40 years, and was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elzie and Doshie Wise; wife, Joann; two sisters; and one brother.

Noble is survived by his daughter, Joan Marie Fortune of Beaumont; son, Charles Clinton Wise of Orange; sons and daughters-in-laws, Noble Weaver Jr. and Cyd Wise of Atlanta, GA, and Michael Clayton and Tina Wise, of Orange; grandchildren, Charlie, Matthew and Kelsey Hull, Noble Weaver Wise, III, Kristin and Cody Wise, Eric and Dillon Wise; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Syble Belk of Shreveport, LA.

Serving as Pallbearers will be the members of Masonic Lodge No. 126.

I have known Noble for years. He and I are both from Shelby County and we used to swap stories about people we knew up there. Some of his kin lived in Joaquin and I knew them when I was growing up there. I met Noble when I went to work for Dupont in 196##imported-begin##Doug Childress##imported-end##

Noble was like a dad to me. I can still hear his laughter when he would tease Clint about me being just as good as a cook as Clint!
