Odessa Lee Dalton

Odessa Lee Dalton, 80, of Orange, Texas died Friday, October 15, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont after an illness.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Monday, October 18, 2010, at First United Pentecostal Church in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Gary Wheeler. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Orange.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church.

Born on July 27, 1930, Odessa was a lifelong resident of Orange, and one of 14 children born to Ollie Myers and Owen Taylor. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Orange.

Odessa was preceded in death by her husband, James Dalton; and daughter, Elizabeth "Libby" Merritt.

She is survived by her son, Jeff J.W. Dalton, and wife Becky; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grand children; sister, Beatrice Tipton of Houston; and two brothers, Mitchell Taylor of Denver, Colorado and Leon Taylor of Kirbyville.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Justin Bufford, Jake Dalton, Logan Williford, Larry Mayfield, and Phillip Williams.

I am very saddened by the news of this loss. It touches my heart and soul. I loved Sister Odessa so very much. So sorry to hear of Sis. Odessa's Aunt Dessa as my son John would call her passing. I loved her dearly. It was as if we were apart of her family. She and her Sister, Sister Betty Aunt Betty to my son Johnand Dana & Dona took care of John while I worked. I##imported-begin##Kathy Peet##imported-end##
