Oleta Ellis Holmes

Funeral services for Oleta Ellis Holmes, 94, of Beaumont will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Chapel. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service on Saturday. Private interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Oleta was born October 6, 1917 in Oswego, Kansas and passed away March 27, 2012 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. She was on the staff of First Baptist Church of Beaumont where she served as the Director of Elementary Education for 30 years.

After retiring from the church, Oleta began working for Charles Kelley at Kelley-Hixson Funeral Home. For 23 years, she also served as a volunteer at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Orman and Mary Ellis; husband, Edgar E. Holmes; brothers, Osborn, Jeff, Marvin and Bob Ellis; and sister, Mattie Whitten.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, John E. Holmes of Beaumont; brothers, Bill Ellis of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Edward Ellis and wife, Shirley, of Parsons, Kansas; and sister, Frances Comer of Pasadena, Texas.
