Olga Mae Alford

Olga Mae "Sissie" Alford, 82, of Orangefield, died Friday, April 16, 2010.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend Jim Hardwick of First Christian Church in Orangefield and Reverend Bobby Granger.

Burial will follow at Alford Cemetery in Orangefield.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Alford was born on April 27, 1927 in Orangefield. She was the daughter of Noah Adam Granger, Sr. and Julia Hill Granger. In 1944, Olga graduated as Valedictorian of her high school class. From 1969 to 1987, she worked as a claims examiner for Texas Employment Commission and volunteered at the Orange Lions Club from 1987 to 1990. She was also a member of First Christian Church of Orangefield.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Price Alford, Sr.; son, Clifford P. Alford, Jr.; parents, Noah Adam and Julia Granger; brothers, David Arnold Granger and Henry Wynn Granger; and sister, Frances Earline Micheletti.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters and son-in-law, Peggy Alford and Kathy and Clement Tillman all of Orangefield; sons and daughters-in-law, Avery and Della Alford of Bridge City and Robert and Julie Alford of Orange; daughter-in-law, Mary Alford of Orangefield; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her brothers, Joe Neal "Buddy" Granger of Orange and Noah Adam "Jackie" Granger, Jr. and wife, Tommie of Spurger; and sister and brother-in-law, Patsy Jean and Jimmy Johnson of Orange.

When Olga retired from the Texas Employment Commission in 1987, instead of a retirement party she had a carwash donating all of the proceeds to charity. Following this tradition, the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to First Christian Church Family Life Center, P.O. Box 337 Orangefield, TX 77639.

I know these times are hard to deal with , but with the Grace of God you will get thru the sorrow. It's hard to let a love one go , but she will always be in your heart and will be in Heaven waiting to see you all again.
