Ophelia N. Gonzales, 82, of Beaumont was born April 27, 1932 in Port Arthur and passed away January 31, 2015 at her residence in Beaumont.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. There will be a Rosary on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. and a memorial service Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Chapel.

Mrs. Gonzales is survived by nine daughters, Virginia Parra, Camille Rocha, Connie Matte, Josephine Foret, Mary Gonzales, Margaret Fuentes, Louise Guidry, Belinda Gonzales; one son, Jose E. Gonzales; 26 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose A. Gonzales and two grandchildren, Kenneth Womack and Jose Parra.

I will always remember the first time I met Mama, it was at Christine's Homecoming and she welcomed me in as if I had know her for years. I have never forgotten that night and every time I talk to Jo Jo, I always ask how Mama is. She was a very special lady to me. May God wrap her and the family in His loving arms. She was the best Grandma anyone could ever ask for. My Grandma had enough love in her heart to bless everyone. She raised my momma, helped raise me and then helped raise my son.
