Patricia R. Bowers

1940 ∼ 2019

Patricia “Pat” Reviea Bowers of Beaumont, Texas, went to be with her Lord on November 11, 2019, at the age of 78. She was born in Orange, Texas, on November 21, 1940, to Arthur and Irma Reviea. Her family moved to Beaumont, where she graduated from French High School in 1958. She married and moved to Louisiana in 1972, and later returned to Beaumont in 1991.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, David R. Bowers. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Bowers; sister, Charlotte Reviea; brother, Arthur Reviea and wife Rebecca; nephews Joshua Reviea and Jacob Reviea, niece Leah Reviea, and their spouses and children.

Serving her Lord through her local church was one of Pat's greatest joys and brought tremendous meaning to her life. Over the years, she served as church organist, church librarian, Sunday school teacher and pianist, Acteens leader and church treasurer. She further served Him as church secretary at Woodland Baptist church 1991 - 2012.

Pat was a loving wife, sister, daughter and friend, and a devoted and supportive mother. She baked countless desserts for school parties, chaperoned numerous events, opened her home for slumber parties and was involved in every significant event of her daughter’s life. She enjoyed traveling, hosting friends in her home, watching hummingbirds in her yard, viewing movies with her family and reading a good mystery. She will be missed greatly.

The family would like express our thanks and love to her caregiver and companion, Lisa Egins, for the compassion, care, devotion and friendship she has shown Pat the last several years. Her assistance and support contributed greatly to Pat’s quality of life. Words cannot express adequately her value and importance to our family.

Appreciation and love are also extended to Dr. Maria Blahey and her nurses Tanya and Jessica; Natalie, Pat’s nurse with Southern Home Health; and Kim and Karista, nurses with Hospice Plus, for their sweet support and care.

Memorial contributions may be made to the H.E.L.P. program at Woodland Baptist Church at 1860 W. Lucas Dr., Beaumont, Texas 77706 or the International Mission Board at www.imb.org/give/ .

First cousins. When I was young, I would go and spend a couple of weeks in Beaumont with my Uncles and their families. Spending time with Uncle Vergil's fam and Uncle Arthur's fam. While at Uncle Arthur's, Pat and Charlotte would sew for me. They would make Barbie clothes as well as sew for me. Even though I was much younger, I always felt welcome. Pat was a kind, soft spoken soul. I know the fond memories of those summer visits will stay with me. They hold a precious place in my heart.

Patricia Reviea Bowers was my first cousin! We lived two blocks from each other! I have so many fond memories of Pat. When she was a teenager she was asked to play the organ at Magnolia Avenue Baptist Church. I would walk with her to the church during the week for her to practice on the church’s organ! After graduating from school Pat was employed as secretary to the librarian at Terrell Public Library. That led to several of the Reviea cousins being employed by the city of Beaumont at the Terrell Public Library! She set such a high bar for us to follow her. Later she was hired by Baptist Hospital to be the secretary to the Chaplins ( 3 different Chaplins). I always loved her sweet spirit! Her high standards. She met the love of her life and married David Bowers! She married David and he took her to Welsh, Louisiana. I have always loved Pat and admired her for all of her attributes! Kindness, Long suffering, Goodness, Love! She will be missed! But I know she is with her Lord and Savior! Sandra Reviea Fertitta
