Peggy Marceline Yancey, 99, died peacefully March 25 ,2026 at her home in Burleson, Texas after a brief illness. She was born February 4,1927 in Frankston, Texas to Della Bizzell Flanagan and Webb Monroe Flanagan. The family moved to Beaumont when she was 12 years old. She attended David Crockett Junior High and graduated from Beaumont High School class of 1944. She married WW II Marine James Hooper Yancey in 1945. Together they had three children, Judy, Michael and William. Peggy was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Beaumont joining the congregation in 1949. She was very active in her church serving as a Sunday School teacher and later in the church library. She started a card ministry making sure that each senior church member received a card on their birthday with a handwritten note in each one. She worked for General Electric Credit Corp and Conn Credit for many years. After retirement she was a volunteer with Beaumont Baptist Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary serving mostly at the Reaud Guest House.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband James Hooper Yancey, sons Michael James Yancey and William Monroe Yancey and son-in-law Ray Posey. She is survived by her daughter Judy Posey of Burleson, grandchildren Jake Posey and wife Merrick of Georgetown, Shannon Mitchell and husband Paul of Burleson, Barry Yancey and wife Maria, Beth Knape and husband Chris of Beaumont, Bryan Yancey and wife Brandi of Port Niches, Kari Yancey and Jessica Yancey of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, 17 great grandchildren and many extended family members and dear friends. She was a wonderful example of how to live your Christian faith every day and will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026 from 2:00 P.M until 3:30 P.M, with Funeral services starting at 3:30. Both to be held at LaBrie Claybar Funeral Home in Beaumont, TX. A private burial will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Beaumont.
