I have always had difficulty sleeping and one funny and amazing thing was how Bob could come home on his lunch hour, eat a quick bite, then immediately nap for 20 or 30 minutes and be as fresh as if he had just had a good night's sleep. I was always envious of that trait of his. I remember waking him up during one of those naps because the huge ravine on our mountain was on fire. We jumped on the roof and started hosing it down with the rest of the neighbors. What a sight that was to see everyone on their roofs while the helicopters passed by and dumped water on the burning hillside. It was a scary few hours but Bob kept his cool. I also remember buying my first vehicle and I had never driven before. It happened to be a stick shift. Jean had to drive it home for me, and since I started my new job in L.A. the next morning, Bob gave me a crash course in driving a stick. He was always there for us, whatever we needed. He was loved and will be sorely missed.

Bob was just great. Back in jr. High I had a paper route in anacortes and in those days you collected the money at the house. After a very frustrating day trying to collect, Bob bought me lunch at A&W and gave me a pep talk I remember to this day. It was such a little thing but it meant the world to me. My thoughts are with his family.

So sorry to hear about your loss. Knowing he is in the arms of God is comforting. Prayers for you and your family.

I’m so sorry to hear of Bob’s death. He was one of my mentors and made a difference in my life. One of my favorite memories is his emphatic statement on a trip to Memphis: We have to pick the low-hanging plums from the cherry tree! I hope the cherry trees in heaven are loaded with plums, Bob! Love and sympathy to Jean and family.
