Robert B. Strickland

Robert "Strick" Strickland passed away on Friday June 22, 2012 at MD Anderson. Strick, son of John and Kathleen Strickland, was born in Tarpan Springs, Florida on Aug. 11, 1928. He received a Bachelor of Science, Chemistry from North Georgia College and a commission as 2nd Lt. in the Army Reserves. Strick then served his country as 1st Lieutenant in the US Army.

Strick retired from EI Dupont Orange where he worked from 1955 to 1995 as their plastics specialist and international consultant. He belonged to the Society of Plastic Engineers and served as a past section president. Strick also served in the community as President of the Orange Community Band, a member of the Orange Lions Club, Beaumont Citizens Police Academy and Citizens on Patrol.

Strick is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, and children Alan and Dale Strickland, Evelyn Smith and Debbie Manshack, Stanley, Ted and Greg Shipper, and Cindy Shipper McMurrey. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, one sister and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at Claybar Funeral Home in Beaumont, TX on Tuesday, June 26 at 3pm. A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Music will be provided by his beloved Orange Community Band friends. Burial will be at Haven of Rest Cemetery on Hwy 90 following the service. Tributes and remarks are welcome.

I had the priviledge of working with Strick and being trained by him. I will always remember what a real class act he was and I will certainly miss him.
