Funeral services for Robert Wayne Brock, 80, of Beaumont will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church. Dr. Karen Dorris and Reverend Ben Burnside will officiate. Interment will follow in Haven of Rest Cemetery on Hwy 90 in Beaumont.

Robert was a native and lifelong resident of Beaumont. He founded Brock Audio in 1958 and operated for over 4o years.

He was a US Army Veteran and member of First United Methodist Church where he served as the church’s audio expert. He spent most Sunday mornings operating the sound system for worship. Robert had a special love of pipe organs and the great hymns of the church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Hubert and Gladys (Steakley) Brock and brother, John Brock.

Robert is survived by his partner of 18 years, Michael Sonnier; sister, Betty Claire Meier and brother, Alan Thomas Brock.

Friends who wish may direct memorial contributions to the Organ Fund of First United Methodist Church, 701 Calder, Beaumont, Texas 77701.

Learned of Mr Brock's death today and I am genuinely saddened. He was such a lovely and dear man. I bought my first good stereo from him back in 1979. Then 34 years later when I finally needed an upgrade, I was blessed to be able to locate him and work with him earlier this year on a new audio/video project in my home. He was a such a delight to work with. So professional…..such integrity……so brilliant in his field……a real class act! Whatever I could dream up, he had the answer! I will miss him so much. Sincere and heartfelt condolences to family and close friends. Heaven's choir has a new sound man!!!

When Robt. was a very young child, he loved to play in the back yard. A neighbor had a parrot (McCaw) that had learned Robert's name and loved to use it. When the bird said "Robert", the very, very young Robert went running to see why his mother was calling him. A very special person!! --- your aunt Audra

Robert was a great friend and will be missed. The heavens will now be filled with enjoyable sounds and Robert will be right there.
