At a young age he was working in the dairy and on the milk truck. He later joined the U. S. Navy and served three years in the South Pacific during World War II. His commitment and work ethic continued while he was enlisted. After leaving the Navy Bob began a life of work in the oilfield and industrial supply field as a traveling salesman. Up to the time of his death he was known as a "gentleman" and a man of honor and ethics.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Martha Ellen Scott. He is survived by his present wife, Sarah Scott and his son and daughter-in-law Robert Alan and Alma Scott and many who knew and loved him.
