Robert Lynn Husband

1942 ∼ 2024

Robert Lynn Husband

Robert Lynn Husband, 82, of Beaumont, Texas passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024, in Beaumont, Texas.

Visitation will be from 10:00am-11:00am Saturday, December 14, 2024, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00am at Woodland Baptist Church (1860 W Lucas, Beaumont, TX 77706), with Pastor David Adams officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Baptist Church or to Some Other Place of Beaumont.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Armon Clyde Husband and Leva Noel Husband Fielder, his brothers Armon Noel Husband and Donald Ray Husband, and his grandson, Holden Thomas Tanner. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Patricia Husband, brothers Charles Bradley Husband (Sheila) of Beaumont, TX and Michael Wyble of Cypress, TX, sisters-in-law Orvalee Husband of Bevil Oaks, TX and Martha Husband of Oxford, NY, his children Robert Steven Husband (Julie) of League City, TX, Randall Scott Husband (Laurie) of Deer Park, TX, Patricia Lynn Tanner (John) of Houston, TX, and Richard Sean Husband of Beaumont, TX, along with 20 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Robert was born on September 9, 1942, in Port Arthur, Texas. He served in the US Army before graduating from Lamar University and working as an accountant for Gulf States Utilities. In addition to raising their four children, Robert and Patricia opened their hearts and home to 37 foster children. Love flowed freely in their home – love for Jesus and love for others. It was a rarity to sit down to dinner in Robert’s home without an extra person sharing the table and being welcomed as family.

Robert was a long-time member of Woodland Baptist Church, where he served in many capacities over the years, including being a deacon and a Sunday School teacher. He especially enjoyed serving in the church library and visiting with those who stopped in each Sunday.

Life wasn’t always easy but Robert’s faith in God never wavered. Perhaps the quality that most marked his life was generosity. If he had a dollar in his pocket, he would give it to you for no other reason than to say, “you matter to me.” He always kept peppermint candy on hand to offer to anyone he encountered, which delighted children and adults alike. That generous spirit came from knowing that all he had was a gift from God to be used to bless others. And so he blessed others at every turn, in every way he could.

From his devotion to his family and his faith, to his gentleness and giving spirit, Robert lived life well and left a precious legacy for all who knew and loved him.

Sorry to hear of Linn’a passing. Condolences to his wife, Patty and family. Although he was a little older than myself, I remember him fondly from childhood. Since I’m trying to CONTIUE my late husband, Mario S Rodriguez’s legacy of genealogy, I would welcome information from family. It is heartwarming to know Linn shared my love of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Robert was a member of my “pack” in high school. He was one of my best friends for more than 60 years. I will always remember our adventures, the poker games around my mother’s dining room table, the visits with him and Patty I frequently had when In Beaumont, and the powerful love they had for each other. Rest in peace, Robert, in the presence of the Lord. You earned it.
