Robert Michael Phelan, 80, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on July 27, 2025.

Born in Hallettsville on February 8, 1945, to Cornelius and Natalie Phelan, Michael graduated from Lamar University and spent his career working for engineering firms in the petroleum and petrochemical industry. Retiring in 2012, Michael was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 951 in Beaumont and enjoyed aviation, woodworking in his shop and spending time with his family and friends telling stories of bygone days.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Natalie Phelan, and his brothers Mark Phelan and Cornel Phelan. He is survived by his children; Eric Phelan and daughter-in-law Laurie Phelan, Jason Phelan and daughter-in-law Cheryl Phelan, Shannon Glover and son-in-law Dack Glover; siblings Thomas Phelan, Jim Phelan and sister-in-law Jean Andrews, Camile Sykes, Shelia Winans and brother-in-law Jim Winans, Denise Leonhardt and brother-in-law Curt Leonhardt; Grandchildren; Colton Phelan, Lauren Morgan, Seth Morgan, Liam Phelan, Makayla Davis, Steven Davis, Sean Phelan, Bailey Phelan, Dani Phelan, and Hudson Glover; Great-grandchildren; Jane Morgan, Paul Morgan, and Ellie Phelan.

Visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Friday, August 1st, 2025 at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, on August 2nd at 11:00 am, 245 Hwy. 90 China, Texas 77613. Burial to follow at Claybar Haven of Rest Cemetery. After the services, a lunch reception will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
