Graveside services for Ruth "Momee" L. Cowen, 89, of Lumberton, will be held Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Knupple Cemetery in Silsbee with Tom Cowen and Mark Cowen officiating. A gathering of friends and family will be held at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Beloved wife, mother, and "Momee" died November 17, 2009 from a very lengthy illness of Alzheimer's. She was born May 16, 1920 in Voth, TX to Simien and Hattie Shutter. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Thomas Cowen; parents, three brothers, four sisters; son, Donald Cowen; and great granddaughter, Brandy Marie Tillery. Those left to cherish her memory are, daughter, Nell Frank and husband, David, of Beaumont; sons, Kenneth Cowen and wife, Jackie, of Oklahoma; Tom Cowen of Houston; daughter-in-law, Brenda Cowen; grandchildren, Shari Pratt and husband, Dana, Steve Norris, Mark Cowen and wife, Robin, Michael Cowen and wife, Emily, Melanie Wingate and husband, Bryan, Kevin Cowen, Drew Cowen; and great grandchildren, Brandon Tillery, Anna, Alex, Benjamin Cowen, Kaitlyn, Christopher, Cameron and Conner Cowen and Cody and Sarah Wingate.

Losing a loved one is never easy even when you know it is coming. Momee hung on so very long, but she finally went home to be with God where she is at peace. My deepest sympathy to each of you.
