Sam Hopkins, Jr.

Samuel Allen Hopkins, Jr., 53, of Beaumont, died Saturday, January 31, 2010, at Methodist Hospital in Houston.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange with burial following at Antioch Cemetery in Buna.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in Orange.

Born in Orange on August 8, 1956, Sam was the son of Rachel Lou Perry Hopkins and Samuel Allen Hopkins, Sr.

He was a registered nurse and had worked at Christus Hospital St. Mary in Port Arthur.

Sam loved to fish, travel and take cruises.

Preceded in death by his parents, Sam is survived by his sister, Martha Havens of Orange; nephews and nieces, Chad and Rachal Havens, Sarah and Sean Wimberley; great nieces and nephew, Faith and Emily Havens and Alex Wimberley; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

I was blessed to have Sam as my cousin. We didn't get to see each other often but when we did he always had a smile. He had such a big heart, always showing compassion and concern.
