Sammye Lee Nini

Sammye Lee Nini, 84, of Orange, died Saturday, July 18, 2009, in New Castle, Pennsylvania.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday July 23, 2009, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange, with the Deacon Harvey Dubois of St. Frances of Assisi officiating.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

Visitation will begin Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. and a rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., both at the funeral home.

Sammye was born in Arlington, Texas on December 23, 1924. She was the daughter of J. Saw Martin and Frances Broderson Thomas. Sammye worked for West Orange Cove ISD for 35 years and was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Orange.

She was preceded in death by her husband, M. Victor Nini, Jr.

Survivors include her daughters, Vickye Hoffman

and her husband John of Highland Ranch, Colorado, Margaret Richard and her husband David of Orange, Patricia Nini of Little Rock, Arkansas and Sherri Holmes and her husband Brian of Terrell, Texas. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, Ticia Mangino, Cicilye Williams, Victor McFarland. Tiffanye Slaughter and Brittanye Willy; 7 great-grandchildren; and one sister.

Serving as Pallbearers will be John Hoffman, David Richard, Austin Williams, Victor McFarland, John Slaughter and A.J. Weber, Jr.
