Sandy (Turner Theiss) Bilbrey

1939 ∼ 2019

Sandy Bilbrey, 79, was peacefully promoted to Heaven in the loving company of her family on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 in Beaumont, Texas. She was born and grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. In her younger years Sandy enjoyed spending time at the local drug store drinking milkshakes, the theater watching the latest John Wayne or other western, or listening and dancing to the Platters or Fats Domino.

In high school, she met Fred (Buddy) Theiss whom she married at age 18 and had three children together raising them in Beaumont, Texas. Sandy worked in the home for her young family and served in her church for years. Later, she worked in several capacities as a bookkeeper, secretary, waitress, and eventually retired as an administrative assistant from the State of Texas Child Protective Services while living in Port Neches, Texas. Sandy was a servant of others all her life; it was a gift that came natural for her and lovingly touched many in her family, her work, and in the community.

Sandy was preceded by her parents Linnie and JP Turner and her brothers Calvin Turner and Bob Turner. She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Lynn Jackson and husband Greg, Talbot Theiss and wife Colleen, and Randy Theiss and wife Tara. Sandy adored her seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 701 Calder Ave Beaumont, Texas at 2pm on Saturday, March 16. Sandy loved her cats so in lieu of flowers, the family asks you to support the Humane Society – Southeast Texas (humanesocietyofsoutheasttexas.org) as she did.

Sandy’s family would like to extend a very special thanks to everyone at Gilbert’s Assisted Living in Beaumont for providing personal and loving care to her that simply could not have been better. Her meticulous care at Gilbert’s was the precious fruit of God working through His servant leaders Ronald and Virginia Morrow.

Sandy and I used to play cards together and eat tuna casserole while our children played. We had her last child, Randy, and my second child, Deann within a few weeks of each other. Her oldest, Saralyn (Lynn), and Talbot were a little older. We had great fun. Love her kids.

Lynn, my heart and my prayers are with you today sweetie. Praying that you can feel Gods love and peace today and everyday. Your mom was a very sweet, gentle and kind woman. I know because it shows in you. She raised an awesome daughter and in the short time I was able to meet her she touched my heart. I’m so sorry, I know she will be missed greatly until you see her again. Love you. Donna Manuel
