Scott Reeves

1965 ∼ 2014

Scott Reeves, 49, was born May 27, 1965 in Beaumont to Tom and Lynda Chisum Reeves and passed away May 28, 2014 in Beaumont, TX. A gathering of family and friends will be from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Saturday, May 31 at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. Funeral services, officiated by Reverend Linda Hopkins will start at 2:00 PM after the visitation with interment to follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery, China.

Scott is survived by his mother, Lynda C. Reeves; his sisters, Lee Welch and husband, David and Carmel Myers and husband, Jim and his brother, Chisum Reeves; nieces Sam Welch and Alex Reeves; and his aunts, Carmel Birdwell and Debbie Jones.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tom Reeves; grandparents, Clyde and Vera Chisum and his aunt, Vee Chisum.

Scott was a great lover of old country music and often drove his family a little nuts with his constant "Turn it up." He loved Superman and the Wizard of Oz and did a really great Spiderman imitation. He loved to swim and play games outside with his family. He loved diet coke, coffee and sugar free apple pie and O'Doul's and birthday cigars... but most of all, he loved his family and friends and they all loved him back.

Scott had to have been the best uncle i have ever had. He was so amazing and cared so much about everyone. I was the one he remembered to the end, he never forgot my name or my face. I was the last person he remembered.

Dear Lynda, I'm so sorry to hear of Scott's passing away. Our family enjoyed Scott so much during our few years in Sour Lake. He was a blessing to all. Faye

When Scott was a young boy he believed that if he moved very slowly we could not see him. He could take 20 minutes to move across a room. What fun. Scott also helped me build a 70 foot pier. He cut every board with a skill saw and no accidents. When we nailed the boards , we had many bent nails and lots of fun. What a fine man he was and such joy.

Martha Quibodeaux What a sweet child he was and even though I haven't seen him in years I have been thinking about him for 2 or 3 weeks now but didn't know where he lived. The last time I saw Scott he invited me to his birthday party so I understand the coming to his house for coffee and would have done just that had I known. What a blessing God gave to his family.

Scott, you truly were a man with a giant heart and are one of my best friends ever. So long Superman, I know you'll be waiting with a pot of cold water to splash on me when I come to find you!!! HA!! That was the greatest memory ever. Rest now dear man.

One thing about Scott was that he never let the coffee pot stay empty very long. And he loved his diet cokes. But most of all is how he loved....it was pure and real. His love for Alex, one of his niece's was unmeasurable. He recognized her to the very end. It will not be the same without him, but oh what memories he left behind.

My favorite memory was playing 'Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar' oh so many years ago. Scott will be greatly missed for his pure heart and his love of family and friends which he always showed by wanting everyone to come to his house and have coffee.
