Shane Derrick Carlin

1970 ∼ 2014

Shane Derrick Carlin, 43, was born October 8, 1970 in Groves, TX to Phillip Michael Carlin and Barbara Brasseaux Gillett and passed away March 16, 2014 in Pt. Arthur, TX. He was employed as a Boat Rigger Mechanic with Jorgensen’s Marine for several years.

Shane loved his family, friends, kids and the Lord. He enjoyed fishing, fast cars, listening to loud music and playing poker and pool. Shane had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. He cherished the moments with those he loved and was always ready to make new memories. He was very crafty with his hands and always ready to fix anything mechanical. Shane was always there when you needed him, especially in your time of need. He was very much loved and will be forever missed.

Shane is survived by his son, Joshua Joey Carlin; daughters, Megan Faith and Alyssa Nicole Carlin; his mother, Barbara Brasseaux Gillett; sisters, Charity Renee Hein and her husband, Edward and sister, Cherri Ann Carlin and his stepfather, Skipper Gillett. He was preceded in death by his father.

A memorial service, officiated by Reverend Teddy Couch, will take place at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Cathedral in the Pines Chapel, 2350 Eastex Frwy, Beaumont, TX.

I'm so sorry I could not be there. I will miss Shane so much. He's a part of my family (my cousin). Shane made me laugh all the time. We were very close friends as well as family. It's just so hard to believe that he is gone. I mean he was just at my house the week before this happened. Oune minute he's hear and the next he's gone.... very sad. I will never forget you and I will see you in Heaven! Till we meet again. Love you cuz!

Shane, You will be missed by so many. You were always ready and willing to help anyone. You had a heart of gold for anyone you knew. From school to now you have always been there. I enjoyed catching up last year and loved that you would have stepped up at anytime to protect one of us Snowden girls. Thank you for being such a great friend. RIP my friend.
