Sharon was like a second mom to me growing up in Tallmadge, Ohio. One of my favorite memories was when I was in first grade. Cheryl and I were waiting for the bus to school and it was a very cold and blustery day with lots of snow on the ground. Sharon stopped by the bus stop in her car and said, "get in kids, I'll drive you to school" I really wanted to get in the warm car but I said, "I can't get in, Mrs. Smith, my mom told me not to get in cars with strangers." Sharon told me it was OK but I would not get in the car. Later that day, Sharon talked to my mom and they had a good laugh. My mom told me when I got home from school that it was OK to go with Mrs. Smith. I can remember laughing with Sharon about that story when I was older. She was our neighbor, my Girl Scout leader and a good listener any time I needed a friend. I don't know if she knew what a difference she made in my life. I will always treasure her memory and I feel blessed to have known her.
