Shelton Willard Hill, 71, of Devil's Pocket, Texas, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur.

Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, with the Reverend Sid Thorne of First Church of God in Orange, officiating.

Cremation will be under the direction of Claybar Haven of Rest in Beaumont.

Visitation will begin Wednesday at 12:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

Shelton was born in Beaumont, Texas on October 5, 1937. He was the son of Joseph Willard Burge and Lenora Hill.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Shelton is survived by his daughter, Gloria Windham of Orange; son, Willard Platt; grandchildren, Crystal Yeates and Tonya Strickland; great-grandchild, Tilman Strickland; sisters, Brenda Moore, Lynda Blaylock and Mary Ann Cain; aunt, Linnie Hatcher; and life long friend, La Merle Hill.
