Miss Stella was a neighbor of my father, CD Mohr, at Calder Woods for several years. It was a delight to anticipate the genuine joy light up in Miss Stella’s crystal blue eyes when I came for a visit. She always had a big smile and a kind word for me. We had many pleasant conversations over lunch with my father. He would have been 103 on his birthday, 11/27. It was funny because he would never admit Miss Stella was older than he. She was a good (and patient) friend for him too! She certainly lived a long and full life, bringing love and joy to all those who met her. She will be missed.

Stella was our backdoor neighbor for over 40 years. We were good friends and visited often over our fence, on our patio, and in our home. She was smart, funny, kind, and very independent. What I remember most was her level of energy. She was constantly doing something physical: mowing, painting, gardening, even spreading loads of dirt, up into her 90’s. She was remarkable! Even having a hip replaced in her 90’s did little to slow her down. She passed just shy of her 108th birthday, spending only her last few years in a nursing facility. She was a great friend to our family. We loved her and will miss her greatly. Our condolences and prayers are with Donnie, Joey, and Paul and their families. Alan, Cherrie, Brian, and Clay Hefty
