Stronnie S. McBride, Jr., 77, of Orange, died Sunday, February 6, 2011, at his residence

Visitation will be from 5:00- 5:45 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2011, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Orange. A Mass of the Resurrection will be recited at 6:00 p.m., at the church. Officiating will be Most Reverend Curtis J. Guillory, D.D. Bishop of Beaumont, and Con Celebrant Reverend Francis Conroy.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, at St. Mary?s Cemetery in Orange.

Born in Mt. Vernon, New York on March 23, 1933, Stronnie was the son of Sophia H. and Stronie S. McBride, Sr. He was raised in Morganfield, Kentucky and moved to Texas in 1960.

A resident of Orange for the past 50 years, Stronnie retired from Chevron Chemical in Orange and was Chaplain for Southeast Texas Hospice for 20 years. He was also a Deacon of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Orange.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth A. McBride, parents; sister, Helen Kienly; and brother, Donald McBride.

Stronnie is also survived by his daughters, Karen McBride of Orange, Lisa McBride of Plano; and sisters, Bonnie Kay Hooper of Morganfield, Kentucky and Kathleen Showalter of Phoenix, Arizona.

Also surviving are his grandchildren, Beth Mooneyham and her husband, Terry, Laura Kovatch, Heather Olsen, Eric Olsen; and great-grandchildren, Logan Michal Olsen and Taylynn Alexis Olsen.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southeast Texas Hospice, P.O. Box 2385, Orange, Texas 77631. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Family Care of Orange for their compassionate love and care provided to Stronnie.

Arrangements are under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
