Susan Ann Cruz Davis, 58, was born May 29, 1956 to W.W. "Bob" and Velma Simmons in Crosby, TX and left to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov. 27, 2014.

Susan worked in a managerial role for AT&T for 17 years. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she dedicated countless hours praising the Lord with the Calvary Church Choir and Orchestra. She was very devoted to her faith, family and friends; always offering love to all she knew. Susan was a generous soul who touched the lives of so many.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Buster and A. C. Busby.

Susan leaves behind her husband of 8 years, George; her cherished son, Chris Cruz and his wife, Tiffanie and her “grand-daughter to be” Aynslie; step-son Chris Davis and his wife Tiffany and grandsons, Cole, Drew and Evan; brothers Roy Simmons, Welton Simmons and Robert Lind; sisters, Margie Stafford, Charlene Crawford, and Laverne Thomas and her husband, Denny and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Susan’s life will be held Monday, December 1, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with a gathering of family and friends from 5 pm until service time.

Those who wish may make donations to the Calvary Baptist Church Worship Choir and orchestra.

As I sat in church yesterday and looked in the choir loft I could not see Susan there. But I could close my eyes and feel her singing and giving praise to Jesus. I had a peace settle in my heart knowing that she will be praising our God and waiting for all the people that love her to get to heaven. Her mansion must be large and her crown is full of jewels. I did not get to know her for years but in the 3 years I knew her she was like a sister to me. She took me in and shared her family and faith with me. I will miss my dear friend. We are sharing memories of you today. I will never forget the day I met you in choir and how welcome you made me feel. You always had a smile and hug for us and listened to what was going on in our lives and prayed for our needs. We shared pictures of our grandchildren and were praying for our new one that is two months old and the one on the way for you.
