Therese Marie Reyenga (née Rayon), born on August 18, 1948, in Port Arthur, Texas, peacefully passed away on March 21, 2026, at The Haven in Lumberton, Texas. Cherished daughter of Mary Louise and Andre Rayon, Therese’s life was a beautiful journey marked by love, dedication, and faith.
Meeting her beloved husband, Billy Joe Reyenga, at Port Neches-Groves High School in 1964, their story as high school sweethearts blossomed into nearly 58 years of marriage filled with enduring love and partnership. Therese pursued her education at Port Arthur Business School and contributed her talents at Texaco (5 Point) Credit Union before choosing to devote herself full-time to raising their children, Shane and Misty.
A deeply devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Therese found her greatest joy in her family. She took immense pride and happiness in her grandchildren—Morgan and Maya Hildum, and Callen, Dawson, and Durham Reyenga—whose presence brightened her life. Her commitment extended beyond her family to her community, where she was an active member of St. Raymond Catholic Church Altar Society and the garden club, as well as a faithful attendee of Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Lumberton. Previously, she also belonged to St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City. Prayer and the Rosary were central to her spiritual life, reflecting her devout Catholic faith.
Therese leaves behind a legacy of love through her husband Billy Joe; her children, Shane and his wife Audrey, and Misty and her husband Mike; her treasured grandchildren; and her loving sisters Rita Fant, Nita Ann Niscavits and her husband Mel, and Carmen Gay and her husband Jeff. Brother in laws; Jerry Reyenga and his wife Jeannette, Dennis Reyenga and his wife Janell, and Ronnie Reyenga and his wife Carlene.
She also cherished her nieces, nephews; Melissa, Tracy, Brittany, Blake, Beau, Bonnie, Jarret and many great-nieces and nephews who will carry forward her warmth and spirit in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Thomas Rayon.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Heart of Hospice and The Haven for their compassionate care and kindness during this challenging time.
In honor of Therese’s memory, donations may be made to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (TheAFTD.org), celebrating a life that touched many with grace and love.
