Thomas Mitchell Robbins

Thomas Mitchell “Mitch” Robbins, 50, of Beaumont, TX died at his home on Saturday, October 19 after a brief illness. He was born in Beaumont on June 7, 1963 to Don Ray Robbins and Jesslyn Gage Robbins. He was a lifelong resident of the area. He was preceded in death by his father, his step-father, Byron Mayfield and his cousin, LuAnn Lucas Shipes.

He is survived by his son, Ian Gage Robbins; his mother, Jesslyn Gage Robbins Mayfield; his siblings, Diana Robbins Lindstrom, Russell and Donna Robbins Gautreaux, J. Martin Robbins, all of Beaumont, and his step-siblings, Joe and Cheryl Mayfield of Waco, TX, Michael and Sondra Mayfield of Beaumont, Robert Mayfield of Beaumont and Robert and Mary Mayfield Whitsitt of Missouri City, TX. He is also survived by his former wife, Sonja Lanham Robbins, mother of Ian Robbins; his aunts and uncles, LeRoy and Joan Gage Lucas of Lumberton and Sid and Doris Robbins Hampton of Fort Smith, AR, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Mitch is a graduate of Forest Park High School in Beaumont, was a Marine and was employed at Orange County Building Materials of Lumberton. He and Ian were also long time members of McCabe Roberts Avenue United Methodist Church and The Society of Creative Anachronism.

A gathering of family and friends will be at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 PM on Monday evening, October 21. The services will be at McCabe Roberts Avenue United Methodist Church, 1205 Roberts Avenue on Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Memorial gifts may be given to McCabe Roberts Avenue UMC or M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, 1515 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX, 77030.
