Tommy L. McKay

Tommy L. McKay, 82, of Orange passed away at his home on Monday, January 23, 2012.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2012 at Orange First Church of the Nazarene with Reverend Ray McDowell officiating. Interment will follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in Orange.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

He was born March 26, 1929 in Logansport, LA to Tommy and Gertrude Ricks McKay. He retired from Allied Chemical as an Operations Supervisor and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Mr. McKay was a member of Orange First Church of the Nazarene where he attended the Fellowship Sunday School Class and was the treasurer for many years. He will be remembered as a loving, gentle, humble, Godly man who always led by example and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Gertrude McKay; son, Kendall McKay and brothers, Robert and J.T. McKay.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Robbie McKay of Orange; son, Mark McKay and wife, Susie of Aiken, SC; son, Kevin McKay of Orange and daughter, Jean Gunter and husband, Bill of Orange and Saudi Arabia. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Ben McKay of New Orleans, LA, Collin Gunter of Orange, Caitlin Gunter of Huntsville, AL and Angela Torgesen and husband, Jay of Johnston, SC; two great grandchildren, Caleb and Taylor Torgesen of Johnston, SC; sister, Mary Sure Harris of Orange and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

We are so sorry for your loss. Mr. McKay was such a gentle, sweet man. He will be sorely missed. We enjoyed helping him with his boat whenever he would come into our shop. He was such a joy to do business with. I first got to meet him through Dairy Queen ##imported-begin##Tommy & Robin Lamprecht of Marine Plus##imported-end##
