Van Obed Clifton, 52, of Beaumont passed away April 11, 2013 at his home. Van was born in North Carolina and moved to Beaumont with his family when he was six years old. He graduated from Beaumont High School in 1978. When he was a young boy he worked with his father and brother in area convenience stores and continued to work with his father in local hotels in Beaumont, the Ridgewood and the Red Carpet. While his health allowed him he loved playing golf.

Van was preceded in death by his parents, V. O. and Vyrtle Clifton. He is survived by his brother V. O. Clifton, Jr. and his wife, Ann, of Lake Charles; his nephew, Christopher W. Clifton, who is serving in the U. S. Army at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina; great niece, and nephew, Courtney and Michael Clifton of Lake Charles; and a devoted and caring friend Richard Carey.

A private family memorial service will be held at a future time.
