Walter J. Authement, Sr.

Funeral services for Walter J. Authement, Sr., 72, of Sour Lake, will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Praise Christian Center with Pastor Reggie Lloyd, Jr. and Rev. Wayne Volz officiating. Interment will follow at Eminence Cemetery in Wallisville at 3:00 p.m. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. He was born August 8, 1936, in Lake Charles, LA to Cyrus and Margaret Lacombe Authement and passed away on November 23, 2008 in Beaumont.

Mr. Authement had worked as a roughneck and will be remembered for the many years he was an Assembly of God minister. He loved his family and they fondly remember his great dry sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Betty Lucky, and grandson, Joseph Authement. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda Authement; sons, Walter Igor Authement, Jr. and wife, Pamela, of Sour Lake, Jeff Authement and wife, Patricia, of Baytown, Ken Authement and wife, Rebecca, of Nederland, and Troy Authement of Corpus Christi; 9 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, 1 great grandson; brother, Harry Authement; and sisters, Nettie Matejicek, Myrtle Sonnier, and Dorothy Breaux.

We are David, Tara, & Savannah Brisendine. We have attended Praise Christian Center for the past 4 years and Tara also works at Dupont Goodrich Federal Credit Union. I assisted Mr. Authement several times at our credit union and he was one of my favorite members. He was always so pleasant to deal with and I enjoyued seeing him come in each time. I will miss Walter's "evil eye"! Everytime I walked in the Dairy Queen or Church, he was there to give me the "evil eye". He always made me laugh and loved to pick on my boys.
