Walter Lewis Potter

Walter Lewis Potter, 61, of Fort Worth, formerly a resident of Orange, passed away, Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at Kindred Hospital in Fort Worth.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2008, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Orange. Reverend Joseph P. Daleo will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5:00-9:00 p.m., Friday with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange.

Walter was born February 14, 1947, to Samuel Raymond and Dorothy Ada Stewart Potter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Jeanette Potter Cunningham.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Verrett Potter; sons, Brian Lewis Potter, Daniel Raymond Potter, both of Fort Worth and Steven Joseph Potter of Arlington, TX and brothers, Raymond Potter of Washington, Marvin Potter of Orange, Joe Potter of LaFayette, LA and Allen Potter of Orange.

Being only 10yrs older than me, his niece, made him like a big brother but i always respected his position as uncle doodle. lol im the age he was when he died, and cant remember anymore why we called him doodle, doodle bug maybe. idk. im friends w steven on facebook as i saw my brother jim had friended him. my dad, raymond, really enjoyed seeing him when he drove to washington. they loved each other a great deal.. im sorry his family have to go through these years without him. all of my uncles and dear happy laughing jeanette made my childhood more special. always loving and welcoming and happy. i miss that. peace

We are sosorry to hear about the loss of Doodle... he will always be Doddle t us. Some of my fondess memories were when we all lived in Riverside next door to each other. We were sadden to hear of the death of Walter, as well as, Jeanette. I'm sure we all have memories of living next to each other in Riverside, Orange, Texas. We lost brother Johnnie, in September.
