Walter T. Gaston

Walter T. Gaston, 89, of Bridge City, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend Marv Howland of St. Paul Episcopal Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Walter was born in Orange, Texas on December 19, 1920. He was the son of Walter P. Gaston and Alice Dodge Gaston. Walter was a past President of the Lions Club and a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was also the founder of the Penny Record in 1960. Walter adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Audrey Rogers Gaston; sister, Mildred Whitman; brothers, W.P. Gaston and Percy Gaston; and son-in-law, Joe Grindele.

Walter is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Ronnie Flitcraft of Bridge City; and daughter, Diana Grindele of Angleton.

He is also survived by his five grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and David Mott, Jeffery Flitcraft, Todd Flitcraft all of Bridge City, Brian Grindele of Angleton, and Chad Grindele of Houston; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Jessie Foreman of Orange; sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jo and Curnie Lormand of Bridge City; and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Jeffery Flitcraft, Todd Flitcraft, Brian Grindele, Chad Grindele, Kenneth Powell and Rodney Powell.

Marilyn and Ronnie, so sorry to hear about your father, he looked so well the other day in the store. I will be in Houston with MIke on visitation and maybe Thurs. I am so sorry to hear of W.T.'s death. Please know that the family is in my thoughts and prayers at this time.
