William D. Byerly

William D. "Bill" Byerly, 85, of Orange, died Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at The Meadows.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, with Reverend Lynn Ashcraft, officiating.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City, under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Born at Spindletop in Beaumont on October 11, 1922, he was the son of Jesse V. and Ladema Mayer Byerly.

Mr. Byerly was a resident of Orange since 1944, and retired from DuPont Sabine River Works where he was a pre-planner. He was a member of North Orange Baptist Church, the church choir and he was a WW II U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran.

Preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Donald Byerly, brothers, J. V. Byerly and Ernest Byerly and sister, Dorothy Roussell, Mr. Byerly is survived by his sisters, Alice Marie Baker and Thelma Dell Smith, and her husband, Tilman, all of Jasper; brother, Steve Byerly of Orange and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Byerly, George Bond, Ernest Egulf, Jay Leger, James Lee and Ernest Bayard.

Honorary pallbearer will be Leothus "Tootsie" Jones.
