Winona Arledge Gibson

Winona Gibson died on November 16, 2008, in Orange . Services will be on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home's temporary location at 1408 W Park Ave in Orange . Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Winona was born on July 16, 1925, in Orange County and attended and graduated from Mauriceville High School and Port Arthur Business College . She met and married William A. Gibson in 1944, who was stationed in Port Arthur with the United States Marine Corps. She was a court reporter for thirty years in both Orange and Jefferson counties and also had her own freelance reporting firm. She was ahead of the curve for career women and was excellent at all she achieved. She loved her family and spent lots of hours cooking and treating her growing family with great feasts during special occasions and holidays.

Winona is survived by four daughters; Winona Stark of Orange , Lynn Wright of Houston, Nan Gibson of Houston and Lisa Richter of Galveston . She was blessed with grandchildren; Stori and Dwayne Clement of Sulphur . LA, Bill and Jenny Stark, Andy and Amanda Stark, Terri and Terry Firmin and Wendi and Chris Parkhurst, all of Orange, TX.; Lisa and Andy Roth of St.Louis, MO.; Michael Wright, deceased; and Keaton Richter of Galveston, TX.

She is also survived by great grandchildren; Dane, Tucker and Tate Clement; Kristin, Colton , Taylor , Logan , Haleigh and Allie Stark; Corey and Kacie Domingue; Dylan and Kade Parkhurst; and Evie, Audrey, and Gabe Roth.

Winona was preceded in death by her parents, Clora and Wheeler Arledge and her husband, William Gibson. She was 83 and had suffered with Alzheimer's for several years and died Sunday at Loving Care Facility in Orange with her family around her. We will be forever grateful for the meticulous care and heartfelt respect shown to our mother by all the loving caretakers at Loving Care Home during her last days.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons; Taylor Stark, Colton Stark, Corey Domingue, Andy Stark, Kade Parkhurst and Keaton Richter. Honorary pallbearer will be Dylan Parkhurst and Bill Stark.

Hi Cousins. I am very sorry for your loss. I remember being at your house many, many years ago. Probably 1966/67. What a feast we had! Your Mom and Dad were very special. They are missed.
