Wyva Jean Bass

Wyva Jean Bass, 75, of Orange passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Baptist Hospital in Orange.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday March 26, 2011, at Old First Orange Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Mrs. Bass was born January 21, 1936 in Cayuga, TX and was the only child to Ralph and Maudy Cornwell Hargrove. She was an aide for O.C.A.R.C. and later for West Orange-Cove C.I.S.D. She was also an active member at Old First Orange Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and she was a member of Volunteer Christian Builders.

She is preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Richard Bass; daughters, Diane Huff and husband Grover F. of Hardin and Deborah Castle of Lufkin; six grandchildren, including Jessica Beaumont, Kenneth Castle, Jr., Joshua Huff and Jacob Huff; three great grandchildren, including Nathaniel Cason and Nessia Cason and cousin, Winona Hood.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Old First Orange Baptist Church Building Fund, 7925 I-H 10 East, Orange, TX 77630.

Richaard, we are so very sorry that we all are unable to attend the service for Wyva. Mary & Don are in Lamesa burying his father. He passed away this past Sunday. Don had to come from Italy. Please know that all of our prayers are with you and the family##imported-begin##J. E. Pate##imported-end##
